Ratings: ‘Once Upon a Time’ wins night; ‘666 Park Avenue’ starts low

Sunday night was a busy one for network TV, and save for NBC, we’re not quite sure if any network really took home much of a unanimous victory when it came to their full slate of programming. Instead, it was really hit or miss with some shows doing well, and some others struggling.

First things first, let’s tackle our favorite punching bag at the moment: CBS, which has really gotten off to a pretty poor start to the season. Remember when “The Mentalist” was pulling decent numbers on Thursday nights? Compared to the 2.1 rating it scored for its Sunday premiere, those numbers feel like the ratings of a smash hit. Meanwhile, “The Good Wife” debuted to a poor 1.8 that would get any other show canceled, and “The Amazing Race” won the night with a 2.5 that proves yet again that this may be the most consistent reality show on TV.

Meanwhile, ABC had some great night in that “Once Upon a Time” won the night with a 3.8 rating for its return, whereas “Revenge” struck gold in its move to Sundays with a 3.2. The only bad news came for new series “666 Park Avenue,” which posted a 2.2 that was down versus what “Pan Am” drew for its premiere last year, but also about even with the premiere of “GCB” in the spring.

Finally, it’s really hard to judge the Fox ratings at the moment thanks to the NFL overrun, but we do believe that their entire animation domination lineup fared pretty well thanks to its incredible lead-in. What we really see shaping up this fall is that most everything is going to remain in good shape; even with “666 Park Avenue,” we would be surprised if they pull it before the start of next year unless the ratings really tank out.

What do you think about the ratings for Sunday?
