MacGyver season 3 spoilers: Is Murdoc coming back?

In a new post on Instagram (which we have for you to check out below), cast member Lucas Till seemingly confirmed that he is back on set with David Dastmalchian, and the two are back to some of their typical hijinks as these characters. We’re always game to get a little bit more of Murdoc on this show, mostly because he is the series’ most-notable baddie and even when you think that he’s locked up/gone, he finds a way to come back and cause some more trouble. We’ve also seen Mac working against him and also forced to work for him at times. He’s a fascinating character that way, and there’s no telling what sort of trouble he could get himself into with another appearance.
For some, maybe hearing this news will help ease some pain that’s coming with the departure of George Eads tonight. We’re moving into a somewhat-unknown frontier for MacGyver following tonight’s episode; while we’ve seen episodes here and there without Eads already, this is the first time (going forward) that he’s going to be outright gone. We do think that the show will be able to move past it, but it’s really going to come down to just having some fun ideas for the rest of the characters and potentially adding someone new down the line. This is a show that has already made it through some other behind-the-scenes changes — think back to the departure of Thornton in the first season or the Samantha Cage story arc that happened last year. (At one point, it seemed like Isabel Lucas was going to be a part of the show for a good while.)
All in all, we do think that there are some good stories coming up on MacGyver, though we certainly also recognize that it could be a little bit weird without George around for at least the immediate future. Getting Murdoc back in the mix at least offers something familiar to fans that is worthy of excitement.
