Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 14 preview: The ‘Part 33’ story
Originally, the title for this upcoming episode was “The Flying Dutchman,” but it’s now being changed over to “Part 33.” There’s no public reasoning for the change, but with this story, you will have a chance to see the entire SVU case in a difficult bind. For more information why all you have to do is check out the official Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 14 synopsis below:
02/07/2019 (10:00 PM – 11:00 PM) (Thursday): As Stone (Philip Winchester) prosecutes the case of a woman who killed her abusive husband, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her squad wrestle with the duty of testifying against her. Also starring Ice T, Kelli Giddish and Peter Scanavino. Guest starring Paula Malcomson (Stella Russell), Nicholas Turturro (Det. Frank Bucci) and Amy Rutberg (Annabeth Pearl). TV-14 D, L, V
We don’t think that we really have to spell out all that much why this story is difficult. Benson and the rest of the SVU team are going to naturally have an interest in protecting the victim. Yet, at the same exact time, we are talking here about a case where they may have to testify about the death of her husband. It’s a difficult line to toe and the question that could come from this is rather simple: Were the woman’s actions justified? Were they in self-defense? These are some of the issues that are going to have to be weighed.
There is also another issue that has to be thought about here, and that is whether or not there will be tension that erupts between Stone and the SVU team over him prosecuting the case. We think that he has become somewhat close to them since first taking the job, and this could put a strain on everyone depending on how things go. Of course, we don’t think that Stone is necessarily taking any pleasure in some of what he’s doing here — he’s just trying to tackle something that he feels he has to. If he doesn’t prosecute, the problems for him could escalate.
We should also note some of the guest stars for this episode — Malcomson is someone you know from her time on Ray Donovan, and Rutberg recently played the Angel of Death on NCIS: New Orleans.
