Good Trouble episode 5 preview: Lena and Stef return!
For the first time since the end of the original series, Sherri Saum and Teri Polo are going to be guest-starring on the spin-off series as Callie and Mariana’s moms, who are coming up to the Coterie in order to spend some time with their daughters. On paper, this sounds like it will make for some delightful family fun … but we know that’s not actually going to happen since in this world, nothing ever seens to go according to plan. Heck, the promo below signals as much as Lena and Stef arrive while also learning that the Coterie is basically a fire trap. No real surprise there, given that this building is extremely run-down and it’s a miracle that so many people are able to call it home at all.

Callie and Mariana’s moms visit their new digs, but even with all the Coterie residents on their best behavior things get out of hand. Meanwhile, Dennis reveals a shocking truth about his past. Special Guest Stars: Teri Polo and Sherri Saum.
Given that Good Trouble is more or less meant to be its own story, we have to take advantage of Lena, Stef, and any other The Fosters characters who appear whenever they are there — it’s going to be few and far between. At least you’ll get to see some of them scattered throughout much of the season. That way, it doesn’t feel like you are getting all of them at once and are not having a chance to see any of them the rest of the way. That would probably be a unique brand of torment in its own right.
Remember now that Good Trouble is still not even halfway through its season, so we’re probably going to see a lot more growth for Callie and Mariana still … plus some other major relationship conflict, given that this is almost expected for a show like this at this point. It’s not going to be easy for them to get their lives together, largely because it never really is in the real world, either.
