Arrow season 7 episode 11 preview: David Ramsey directs ‘Past Sins’

David Ramsey

There is something so exciting about Arrow season 7 episode 11, and much of it starts with the director: David Ramsey. For the first time, the man behind John Diggle has an opportunity to go behind the camera and present something new for viewers out there. Directing a TV show is no small feat — it takes countless hours of preparation and study before you get to this point, and you also have to operate within a specific frame. While Ramsey’s episode may have its own voice, it also cannot veer too far off of the beaten path. Except for the upcoming 150th episode (which intentionally has more of a documentary style to it), every episode of this show is shot in a specific way and is dark, gritty, and meant to bring about a certain degree of emotion.

Want to get a few more details regarding what is coming in terms of the episode’s story? Then be sure to check out the official Arrow season 7 episode 11 synopsis below:

DAVID RAMSEY DIRECTS HIS FIRST EPISODE OF ARROW – The past comes back to haunt both Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy). Curtis (Echo Kellum) is upset when he discovers that Diggle (David Ramsey) and Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Anderson) have restarted The Ghost Initiative with Diaz (guest star Kirk Acevedo), China White (guest star Kelly Hu), Kane Wolfman (guest star Liam Hall) and Carrie Cutter (guest star Amy Gumenick). David Ramsey directed the episode written by Onalee Hunter Hughes & Tonya Kong (#711). Original airdate 1/28/2019.

Just based on some of what you’re seeing with that description, there’s a lot to be super-excited about. It’s great, for starters, that there are so many returning characters on this episode, especially villains like China White and Carrie Cutter who there’s always been some untapped potential with. Couldn’t the show have done a little bit more with the two of them than they have? We like to think so, but maybe this is a part of that. It basically does feel like a new version of the Suicide Squad in some form. Remember the previous iteration of that on Arrow? That produced some really fun episodes, and it also gave you a super-small reminder that Harley Quinn is technically a part of the Arrowverse. It’s just for DC Comics reasons that we’re not going to get a chance to see too much more of her!
