Criminal Minds season 15: Should Shemar Moore return before finale?

When we think about Criminal Minds season 15 being the final season for the CBS show, that means to us one thing above all others. This is a time to really honor the series and its overall legacy. That means, in turn, that there’s a chance to bring back some familiar faces.

One of these familiar faces is Shemar Moore. It’s easy to state the actor’s impact on Criminal Minds — after all, we’re speaking here about an original cast member and someone whose impact on the franchise is never going to be properly measured. He’s someone who offered us some fantastic scenes, great relationships, and even a little bit of fun — that’s something that you don’t exactly get a lot of on a show that has to be so serious much of the time.

Bringing back Shemar seems to make a great deal of sense, largely because it’s hardly something that would be new to the CBS series now. They’ve already done it on occasion since the actor originally departed. The only thing that makes it a little bit more difficult is the fact that Moore has another show in SWAT that, conceivably, could be filming at around the same time.

Yet, we do think that there is still a way in which this could work. Just think about things in this sense. If Criminal Minds starts to film its final season in the spring, that means that there will probably be at least a few weeks where it is in production after SWAT is done. That means that there’s a good chance to bring Shemar back, and for a potentially meaty role as opposed to just a quick cameo. He doesn’t need to be in several episodes, but one more appearance from him would be nice as a way to honor the show and its overall legacy. Also, don’t we deserve at least a few more scenes of Morgan and Garcia together?

What about other familiar faces?

Absolutely we know that there are going to be questions aplenty when it comes to Thomas Gibson and his own possible future on the series, and that is something we will get to more down the line. We think that it’s probably clear to everyone that this situation would be a little bit more delicate given the circumstances around his original exit.
