Top Chef: Kentucky episode 6 preview: The Last Chance Kitchen winner!

Top Chef

Top Chef: Kentucky episode 6 is coming onto Bravo Thursday night and we can tell you right away there’s some interesting drama with it. How can there not be when the Last Chance Kitchen winner will be announced at the start of it!

It’s going to be a strange episode in many ways, largely due to the fact that some show-only viewers could be a little bit confused. That’s what happens when you inject a tiny portion of the web show onto the main series itself. What we know entering the episode is that Brother and Nini are doing battle and, beyond just this, that only one of them will have the honor of entering the competition. For Nini, it’s a chance to return following what happened at Restaurant Wars. For Brother, it’s getting a chance to be a part of a season that he wasn’t originally on at all. This is something that we do think would be interesting, mostly because of the target that would be on his back.

Of course, the Last Chance Kitchen battle will only last so long and, on the other side of that, we’re going to have a chance to see the chefs take off for a rather unique challenge, one based in part on Prohibition! It may be a strange idea in theory, but it sets the stage for a rather unique showdown.

For some more news as to what’s coming up next, be sure to check out the official Top Chef: Kentucky episode 6 synopsis below:

The chefs walk in on an epic battle of Last Chance Kitchen and are drafted into the fight. Once Tom declares a winner, the chefs immediately begin a challenge making dishes based on Prohibition Era cocktails. Chef Ken Oringer joins Padma, Tom and Graham at a Roaring 20’s party with Flappers and Dapper Dans.

Suffice it to say, we think that this is going to be an enormously-fun episode that brings a lot to the table in terms of style — plus, doesn’t a themed party like this give everyone a chance to stretch their creativity? That’s something that we always embrace and welcome on a show like this. We don’t really love the challenges as much that are technically or based on replicating something else; we want opportunities for these chefs to take on something a little more abstract and this idea seems to fit that bill. It also does continue a theme of booze this season in a big way.
