Death in Paradise season 8: Call the Midwife, Poldark alum to appear
So, who are we talking about specifically? One of the more intriguing names on the list of guest stars is Charlotte Ritchie, who recently wrapped up a run as Barbara on Call the Midwife. It will be nice to see her back on television, and personally, we hope that this is a part that is very much different from any that she’s done before. Note that the BBC didn’t exactly release a whole lot of information about specific characters; they just gave us something to be excited about in terms of guest stars.
January is more than likely going to be a big month for Call the Midwife in general, as we anticipate that the latest batch of episodes will be premiering on BBC One a little bit later this year.
To go along with Ritchie’s casting, Death in Paradise is also bringing on board Rebecca Front, who most-recently played the role of Lady Whitworth over on Poldark. That was a particularly nasty role, and with that contrast in mind, you do almost have to hope for something a little more pleasant and positive here so that she continues to have some opportunities to mix things up and do some different things. Add to this Downton Abbey alum Robert James-Collier, and you’ve got three especially notable people stopping by for this coming episode.
We think the appeal of being a part of Death in Paradise is fairly easy to determine — after all, this is a chance to appear on a show that does have a rather hefty audience supporting it, and it’s one that can be considered in many ways a British TV institution. It’s the sort of program that we feel many people would love to be a part of in some shape or form, but only a select few really can given that the season only tends to last so long. It’s also a show that appeals to a wide array of different viewers, which opens the door in a lot of great ways for yourself down the line.
