For those out there who are interested in seeing the Good Trouble series premiere a little bit early, you may have an opportunity to do just that!

Today, Freeform announced that they have put the premiere episode of the Maia Mitchell – Cierra Ramirez series online early for Hulu customers, plus via their official site (requires validation) and Xfinity. It’s a great move in order to get people discussing the show a little bit early, though we do question why Freeform didn’t just put the premiere on YouTube or some other sort of publicly-accessible program so that everyone could get on board. Isn’t the idea to make it so that people who aren’t subscribing to you already want to?

Anyhow, the premise of Good Trouble revolves around Callie and Mariana who, following the events of The Fosters, are ready to start a new life for themselves in Los Angeles. This show is about watching them try to make a name for themselves alongside some of the struggles that they are going to face. That includes Callie working under a conservative judge who may not be altogether receptive to many of her beliefs. Meanwhile, you are also going to see Mariana deal with sexism in the workplace as she enters the tech space — one that often is dominated by men.

Will Good Trouble really work as a series? We do think that it’s got potential, but we do still wonder if the show is going to be able to acquire any viewers beyond the audience who is already checking out The Fosters. That is going to be the primary question that the series is going to have to answer over time, and some of that could be apparent from the jump in the premiere.

If you missed it…

We recently shared some details about the first four episodes of the series! If you’re unsure as to whether or not you want to watch, that will at least give you a good sense as to what’s ahead. Good Trouble is appearing on Freeform in just one week’s time, and it is one of the big shows that they are looking to get off the ground. Another one this month is the second season of Siren, which they are banking on to become one of their most-important hits much like it was in the first season.

If you do want to watch Good Trouble, remember that you do need to watch live! That’s the #1 way in which to ensure that the show sticks around for some sizable period of time.
