Suits season 8 in 2019: Hopes for Harvey, Donna, and more

As we move into Suits season 8 and its big return in the new year, what do we want to see for the majority of its characters? Think of this article almost as New Year’s resolutions for many of the core group. Some of our suggestions revolve around career aspirations; meanwhile, others have to do with long-needed personal revelations.

Harvey Specter – This has to be the time when he really starts to take a look at some of his feelings for Donna, right? Given that the firm has its new structure and Mike and Rachel have been gone for a while, there’s nothing stopping it … or is there?

Donna Paulsen – The show owes it to Donna in the new year to explore her new relationship, and they should do that. Hopefully, this makes it clearer what Donna wants out of a partner and also whether or not Harvey could provide that. Aside from relationships though, we want to see Donna continue to use her abilities as COO to get things done in a way no actual attorney can.

Louis Litt – Embrace the idea of him as managing partner, including all of the chaos that likely comes with it. Louis is not the sort of character who often handles power well; yet, the writers should milk the heck out of this since it should be fun seeing him both relish and potentially get wrecked by the responsibility.

Samantha Wheeler – We’ve gotten to know a little bit more about her as a character, but as a name partner is something different altogether. How does she operate with Robert Zane now that she doesn’t have to do some of his dirty work anymore? She’s separate from him in a way that she hasn’t quite been before.

Alex Williams – We want to see more of Alex with his family, mostly because this is really the only character on the show that brings this particular dimension to the table. How much do the long hours of the job weigh on them?

Katrina Bennett – We in a lot of ways understand the Katrina / Brian storyline, given that Katrina pours so much into the job that it makes sense that she’d look there for personal connections. Yet, we know that this relationship isn’t healthy for her and we yearn for it ending sooner rather than later.

Robert Zane – Since he’s not actually a series regular, our hope for him is mostly that we get to see as much of him as humanly possible. Pretty simple, really.
