If you are going to deal with an imposter version of Raymond Reddington, you’re going to need a pretty-foolproof plan. That’s something that Liz Keen is more than aware of moving into the two-night The Blacklist season 6 premiere on NBC.

In the new sneak peek below (via The Wrap), you can get a good sense as to what Liz’s plan is for dealing with the information that she has — and trying to also ascertain Reddington’s true identity. In a conversation with Jennifer, one of the few collaborators that she has in her quest for the truth, she makes it clear that under no circumstances can they loop in her colleagues at the FBI … at least for now. She’s been around this man long enough to realize that he will find out the truth about what’s going on the more people know about it. If they want to find a way to expose him and make sure that they get the answers they seek, they’re going to need to do it in a super-covert way. That means operating off the grid as much as possible and tracing some of the real Reddington’s history leading up to the imposter’s arrival.

Based on this sneak peek, medical records are going to be a key part of the operation — but before the two can make any more progress, Reddington shows up to the apartment. That leads the two into a scramble given his ability to detect strange behavior fairly fast. He’s going to know that something is off if he detects even a slight change in Liz’s inflection, let alone the presence of Jennifer in the apartment.

This preview just gives you a small sense of what is coming in the new episodes, as Liz will try her best to uncover the truth about Reddington while also dealing with some other, external threats. The Blacklist is still the same show that it’s been, and because of that, you cannot expect there to be too many sweeping changes when it comes to the way in which this show works. There will still be Blacklisters, there will still be some humor, and all of your favorite supporting characters are going to have important roles in what’s coming.
