SEAL Team season 3 renewal hopes: Should there be confidence?
By and large, we do remain cautiously optimistic that there will be a little bit more of the CBS show coming down the line. After all, there are some big things that SEAL Team has going for it, whether it be a great star in David Boreanaz, subject matter that is unique, and potential to elevate itself even beyond what we’ve seen from it over the years.
In terms of the show’s ratings, though, we would say that the results are a little bit mixed. The second season to date is averaging a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic — that is better than some other shows on CBS, but it is a decline of more than 15% from the season 1 average for the show. There is a little bit of a silver lining here, though, largely in that SEAL Team posted its best ratings of the season (a 1.0 in the 18-49 demographic) for its midseason finale. That sets the stage for what is coming up in the next part of the season.
When the show does end up returning with new episodes in the new year, it will be doing so with so with the potential to draw some big numbers. After all, SEAL Team and many other shows have the potential in order to score ratings at a time in which there are few distractions — it’s cold outside, and we always do feel like that helps ratings rather significantly.
Is there any cause for concern?
At the moment, we’d say that there is for one simple reason — what is happening come spring, when the series is going to be pushed back to 10:00 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday nights. This is a rather-difficult time for many series to succeed, especially since there are just fewer viewers around on average.
Ultimately, we think that these 10:00 p.m. airings in the spring will be the ones that best dictate the show’s future — this is where we remind you that if you love SEAL Team and want to see it on the air for as long as possible, the best thing that you can do is watch it live! Like us, we have a feeling that you’d like to see a whole lot more of SEAL Team coming up in the future.
