Per Variety, here is what Hadwin had to say in a statement on the deal:
“It feels amazing to be joining Syco and I am super excited and feel so lucky … I’ve always wanted to work on original songs and to be able to do that with the support of Syco while staying true to myself and the music I like is a dream come true. I can’t thank them enough for giving me this chance.”
Meanwhile, Syco’s own Simon Cowell (who is also a judge and an executive producer on America’s Got Talent) added the following:
“Courtney is an amazing artist … I will never forget her first audition on the show this year, and now we have the opportunity to work with her alongside Arista — it’s fantastic. We are all really excited about her future.“
We certainly do hope that Hadwin is able to find a tremendous amount of success for herself after the show — for starters, she’s talented enough to make it happen. Beyond that, though, we also do think that it would be nice to see more singers come out of America’s Got Talent and actually have some sort of enormous career. It is something that a lot of alumni have struggled with over time, mostly because this is such a crowded field of singers out there.
