The Walking Dead season 9: Where is Dwight? Austin Amelio talks future

Dwight

Where is Dwight on The Walking Dead season 9? The character has been missing in action for a good while now, but here’s a small tidbit of good news — apparently, he’s still somewhere out there, even after the time jump.

Speaking (per Insider) to fans at a recent Walker Stalker Con event, here is some of what Amelio had to say:

“He’s not dead … “That’s all I can say. He’s alive. He’s alive in the world somewhere.”

Isn’t that at least partially exciting? We like at least knowing that this is a character who is still out within the Walking Dead ether after everything that he went through and his role in the whole saga of Negan and the Saviors. He changed fairly considerably and had a view on the world that was different than most.

Yet, the question that we’re left to wonder now is this: Is he even remotely the same guy now? Given that there has been such a time jump that does leave huge question marks regarding the status of someone like him, especially so much can happen out in the world. Who knows if Dwight has friends or has become a part of a new community? We don’t think at this point that the show has to really be beholden to the comics at all and it can tell some of its own stories and explore things in its own unique way. We want to see them continue to be creative and find some fun ways to push the envelope, mostly because that’s really going to be the way for The Walking Dead to take things to the next level.

Unfortunately, we are still stuck waiting a rather-long time in order to see any more stories within this world — The Walking Dead will be back in February and with that, the saga of the Whisperers will kick off in an even-larger way than what we’ve had a chance to see so far. They’ve made their debut, but there is so much more that we’re left to wonder about these people and their final intentions.
