Criminal Minds season 14 teaser: Filming out in the woods

For some insight on what’s happening now, just look at the new peek behind the scenes below via executive producer Harry Bring. We do certainly think that this is a great reminder of how much work goes into making this show precisely what it is, but then also the challenges that this series has from a location standpoint. The producers here have to find a way to make it look like the BAU is visiting a wide array of different parts of the country, even when in actuality they are really just hanging around the Los Angeles area week after week. That means that all of the powers that be have to go out and find a wide array of new and suitable locations that can mimic other parts of the country — this photo below certainly does not look like Los Angeles, and we do think that this is precisely the point.
When you think about it, there is really nothing more perfect for Criminal Minds than an episode set out in the woods — it’s creepy and perfectly-suited for the series that we’ve come to know so well for this sort of material over time. One of the things that we are still left to wonder about, though, is simply if we’re going to have a chance to see many more episodes beyond the one currently being prepared. Given that we’re beyond the halfway point of the season now in terms of them airing, the production may be near the end of the road. That’s a scary thing given that there is no guarantee of a season 15; not only that, but CBS hasn’t even given the show much of a vote of confidence beyond the fifteen episodes that were initially ordered. There was no extension to the order and we imagine that the finale is going to be on the air by the end of the first couple of months of the year.
Consider this your fairly-regular reminder to watch Criminal Minds live — after all, you are the one who can ultimately make a big difference as to whether or not the show is going to come back. There’s still a little time left and a reason to have some hope.
