The X Factor UK: Advice for Dalton Harris, Brendan Murray, top 6

X Factor

The X Factor UK season 15 is nearing the end of the season and with that in mind, why not start to take a look at what the contestants can do to make it to the final?

This is what this entire CarterMatt article is all about! To go along with it, we also have a video at the very bottom for an even more in depth analysis — remember to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube and take a look at our full X Factor playlist. We have mapped out individualized suggestions for all of the remaining artists as to how get to the end.

Brendan Murray – Pick a song choice that is really surprising! We know what he can do when it comes to taking on songs that are somewhat within his lane; for now, we’d like to see him move about the stage a little bit more and show more of his performer side. Don’t go crazy with the dancers or other crazy stuff, but just find a way to establish him more as a bona-fide stage presence and make himself a significant threat.

Dalton Harris – Given that he is almost a consistent favorite at this point, we don’t think that Dalton really needs to do anything altogether dramatic in order to prove himself here. We wouldn’t think so much for him in terms of what he needs to do in order to win now; instead, think of songs that would sound like what he wants on the radio after the show. Really go for the jugular here and stress individuality even more than just powerful songs.

Acacia and Aaliyah – At this point, they just need to have fun. They’re not going to win, so they may as well just either do more original songs or things that are fun and could play to their base after the show. Do their best to show who they are outside of the show since that’s their only real path at this point.

Anthony Russell – Get vulnerable. He’s the only contestant on this list we’d say that to, given how often most people choose to do ballads on this series. We just think that it would benefit him to find his own center, given that to date, we’ve seen him inhabit a lot of other singers’ bodies as opposed to just his own.

Scarlett Lee – Do something a little silky and jazzy. She’s got the right voice for it, and we think that this could be a more viable lane for her rather than just choosing something else that simply shows off her range. At this point in the show, it should be fairly clear to everyone that she has that.

Danny Tetley – Do something a little bit more uptempo and modern. While Danny’s performances have all been good and many of his songs are instantly recognizable, we’re not sure that he is doing enough in order to prove that he can be a star in 2018.
