The Voice song spoilers: Kennedy Holmes, Kirk Jay, Sarah Grace, top 13

The Voice 15

Tonight, The Voice will be bringing you the top 13 performance show, which is when the remaining contestants are really going to be pushed into the thick of the competition for the first time. The competition has been weeded out and with, the real contenders are still standing. At this point, song choice is incredibly important.

New The Voice video! – Check out some of our thoughts on last week’s performance show at the bottom of this article! For more, remember that you can subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube right away.

Below, you can get a small sense as to what the top 13 are performing, coupled of course with our own personal thoughts all about them.

Team Adam

DeAndre Nico, “I Can Only Imagine” – The MercyMe song is arguably the biggest Christian anthem of the past fifteen or so years. Religious songs tend to do really well in sales on iTunes, which is why you see them a lot here.

Reagan Strange, “You Say” – A super-modern contemporary Christian song. We’re not that familiar with it, but most show fans should lap it up.

Tyke James, “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” – The Bryan Adams classic is going to get a serious rearrangement from Tyke. This is either going to be really cool or a total mess.

Team Blake Sheldon

Dave Fenley, “Hard to Love” – Good choice for Dave. The Lee Bruce number should give him a little bit of room for interpretation.

Kirk Jay, “I’m Already There” – Kirk is awesome, but is this Lonestar song a little too much of a drippy ballad? That’s what we’re still trying to figure out.

Chris Kroeze, “Let It Be” – One of our favorite Beatles songs, and when done right, this can be incredibly moving.

Team Jennifer Hudson

Kennedy Holmes, “Wind Beneath My Wings” – This is the ultimate test for Kennedy. She’s a great singer, but this is a really tough song in that it feels so dated. Can she make it feel fresh again?

SandyRedd, “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” – Love this choice. One of the most underrated songs of the past couple of decades. (Yep, it’s STILL underrated.

MaKenzie Thomas, “I Am Changing” – Another big ballad. We get that it’s from Dreamgirls and the J-Hud connection is there, but what will make this different?

Team Kelly Clarkson

Chevel Shepherd, “Little White Church” – It’s a predictable choice, but one that will probably work rather well for her.

Lynnea Moore, “Wolves” – Bold choice for a contestant who is literally just back in the main competition.

Sarah Grace, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” – Good on her for choosing songs with her own musical sensibility, and ones that won’t sound like any other.

Kymberli Joye, “Diamonds” – This song is just about as fantastic as any that you re going to find in terms of allowing for room to do your own thing. Whether fast or slow, Kymberli should make it fun.
