American Horror Story season 9 premiere date speculation

American Horror Story season 8

Want to know when American Horror Story season 9 is going to premiere on FX? We’re going to talk about that, and the future of the franchise, within…

Let’s start this CarterMatt article off here with a pretty-clear reminder that American Horror Story season 9 is all systems ready to go already. The network confirmed well over a year ago that there would be a season 9 of the franchise. Heck, earlier this year it was officially confirmed that there will be a season 10! This is one of those franchises that could go on for however long that executive producer Ryan Murphy wants it to since there are so many horror stories to dive into.

When it comes to the ratings, it is fair to say that those are solid at the moment. Season 8, subtitled Apolcalypse, has drawn (on average) a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and, to go along with that, more than 2 million live viewers weekly. That is down slightly from season 7, but it’s not bad when you consider that there are some viewers who subscribe to FX+, the premium service that allows you access to episodes prior to them coming on the air. These ratings are good enough for the show to continue however long all parties involved want for it to.

As for what the story for an American Horror Story season 9 could be, we do think that there are a ton of different variables and possibilities there, as well. There’s a reasonably good chance that it could be an entirely new story with new characters — as a matter of fact, this is precisely what we’re expecting given the fact that season 8 had so many crossovers. The majority of the seasons don’t really emphasize that and just focus on what’s happening in the present story timeline.

The cast for season 9 will probably be revealed in the new year. At this point, some of the franchise’s mainstays include the likes of Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Kathy Bates, but there are no guarantees that they will stay put. We’d like to see all three plus some other familiar faces stopping by at some point, especially the likes of Billie Lourd, Cheyenne Jackson, Emma Roberts, Billy Eichner, and a few others if possible. A part of the connectivity that comes with these American Horror Story seasons is the community of actors that exists from one season to the next. Even if you are not altogether sold on the story of a particular season, you may still be able to get on board just because of some of the people who are taking part.

As for that premiere date…

Nothing is confirmed just yet, but it’s fair to think that American Horror Story season 9 is going to be premiering on FX come September of 2019. This is the clearly-established pattern at present.
