Magnum PI episode 9 preview: ‘The Ties That Bind’

Coming up on Magnum PI episode 9 next week, the title character may find that there is an interesting way for his skills to prove useful. This installment is entitled “The Ties That Bind” and over the course of the episode, Magnum will be called on to tap into his own dark history in order to help someone in dire need. Odds are, this is not going to be the easiest thing in the world for him to do given that we’re talking about someone who has experienced a great deal of pain and much of it is not something that he wants to remember (anyone in his position would likely feel the same way). This is a comedic show at times, but it definitely does feel like there’s some serious stuff ahead.

Below, we have the full Magnum PI episode 9 synopsis with some additional information as to what lies ahead:

“The Ties That Bind” – After a 16-year-old kidnap victim, Amanda (Lyrica Okano), escapes her captors, her parents hire Magnum, who experienced similar trauma as a POW, to find who took her, on MAGNUM P.I., Monday, Nov. 19 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

What we’re expecting in this episode is that Magnum is going to take this case a little more personal than almost any other that he’s taken on this season, and that can be both a good and bad thing. The good thing here is that you know he’s going to be committed to the cause … but don’t you really know that about Magnum in the first place? When has this guy not been committed to what he’s doing? Even if the case feels relatively small-scale and there is not a whole lot of money in it he always gives it his all.

Of course, the possible problem that could come out of Magnum’s investment is that he could end up being too invested and because of that, start to make some mistakes or think without the logical part of his brain kicking in. Magnum’s an emotional guy sometimes and that’s not always the best thing for cases of grave magnitude. Luckily, he has a number of people around him who could help to keep him focused on the right things he needs to do in order for Amanda to be found. This could be the episode that tests Magnum like no other — and hopefully to some exciting results that take the series to another level.
