Before we dive too much deeper, let’s go ahead and share the official Outlander season 4 episode 3 synopsis:

Jamie and Claire search for a place to call home with Young Ian and John Quincy Myers, a local mountain man. Meanwhile, in the 20th century, Brianna and Roger’s romance heats up and then fizzles during a road trip that winds up highlighting their differences.

When the story picks up for Roger and Bree, all signs point to them getting a chance to spend some time together after a little bit of long-distance communication. The two clearly have feelings for one another already and a capacity to have a good time together; yet, simultaneously they are very different people. They haven’t really spent a significant amount of time together other than small stretches and there could be some tests ahead for them. Granted, this episode will not even compare to the tests that are coming a little bit later this season. There are some extremely hard times coming and we will see these characters struggle to grapple with much of that.

Before the pain though, won’t it be nice to see the two actually have a little bit of fun?

As for Jamie and Claire…

It’s pretty clear for them entering this upcoming episode that River Run is not the place for them. After all, they don’t agree with the law of the land pertaining slavery and they would prove to be far too combustible in that environment. With that, they are on the road towards making a home of their own — with a little bit of help. Of course, there are some other problems that they are going to encounter along the way, separate from any that they have faced so far. This is where Claire’s knowledge of history, especially when it comes to America’s treatment towards Native Americans, could help. She knows about many atrocities and may seek to strike a more cooperative relationship with everyone she comes into contact with.
