The Bachelor mansion burning amidst horrific California wildfires

The horrific wildfires across much of California, including Malibu, Griffith Park, and other neighborhoods have devastated countless lives. Many are being forced to relocate, homes are burning, and it doesn’t appear as though relief is coming in the immediate future.

In the midst of all of this, we want to recognize that the Bachelor Mansion in Agoura Hills is not the most famous landmark in danger; beyond that, we also understand that there are many lives out there who are in grave danger and they matter more than a single property. Yet, we are a TV site, and the fact that the Bachelor Mansion may not make it out of the fire in one piece is headline news within this field.

Earlier today, The Bachelor executive producer Mike Fleiss made it clear with a photo that both Malibu and the Bachelor Mansion were in danger, and that is corroborated by a Hollywood Reporter story saying that the lower house, which is often used for production, has already been destroyed. The back patio was on fire as of about half an hour ago and the damage could be far more severe at the end of this. This home is one of the most famous on TV — ABC and Warner Horizon do not actually own the place, but they have used it on a number of occasions for almost every season of the flagship show and The Bachelorette. It’s been the setting of proposals and also many dramatic moments. The THR report notes that the house has been in use, in one form or another, for over a decade.

For those unaware, Colton Underwood’s season of the show has already left the Bachelor Mansion in order to visit other international destinations and to do hometown visits. It remains unclear if they were planning to return to the mansion for some other part of the season. The first season that could be impacted in a huge way is the next season of The Bachelorette, which is probably going to start production in March. It’s too early to speculate on what the future could be for that show in terms of location. More than likely production could just find another mansion, but that feels like a petty debate to have in the midst of a massive, real-world issue that is going on at present.

For now, let’s send our thoughts to all of the super-brave firefighters who are out there trying to take care of this. At the end of all of their hard work and sacrifice, they are worthy of so much more than a rose. They are worthy of all the thanks that we can possibly give for helping to stop California from burning to the ground multiple times a year.

The new season of The Bachelor is going to be premiering on ABC in January; to receive some other news in regards to filming, be sure to head over to the link here.
