Should Power season 6 lead into some sort of legal spin-off?

If you look below, you can Stephen A. Smith discussing the upcoming season with Shane Johnson and Jerry Ferrera. There are going to be some big things coming up for Proctor and Saxe, and we personally think that the more this show dives into legal waters, the better off it is. There are just a number of fun angles and battles that we’ve seen in the courtroom, and the aftermath of Ghost’s arrest is going of our favorite storylines that we’ve seen on Power over the years.
Recently, the news was first revealed that there is going to be at least one potential spin-off in development thanks to creator Courtney A. Kemp’s new deal over at Starz. There’s a lot of excitement there, but also a degree of mystery just because of the fact that no specific ideas have been mentioned. With that in mind, let’s talk about this one — a legal spin-off revolving around Joe Proctor.
Of course, the criticism on the surface would be that this is Power basically doing Better Call Saul, but we just don’t see it that way. With Joe, you have a guy who is trying to do his best in order to ensure that he can take care of his kind while also doing his job. He doesn’t always represent the best people, but we don’t think he enjoys some of the darker aspects of being a lawyer quite like Saul does. We’d just love to see a show about other people he represents, what his life is like, and also potentially if there’s a way for him to escape all of the trouble that he’s been in the past few years after representing Ghost and dealing with the likes of John Mok.
If Power wants to keep the soul of its show while also presenting something a little different, doesn’t Joe seem like a fitting choice? We’ll have some other ideas over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for some of those.
