Blue Bloods season 9 episode 6 review: Did Jamie turn Eddie against him?

Blue Bloods season 9

Tonight, Blue Bloods season 9 episode 6 brought up a good bit of drama across just about every story — beyond just that, they also featured some character-pairings that we don’t often see.

Take, for example, Henry going undercover in order to see what was going on at the nursing home with Anthony’s mother. He suspected that she was given tests that she didn’t need or want and as it turns out, he was right. (Being at the home also caused Henry to have an even larger perspective on his own life and how lucky he was.)

As for what else happened tonight…

Jamie draws a line – After Eddie and her new partner Maya got into some controversy for their inaction out in the field, their boss came down hard on them. At first, this put Eddie in a tough spot where she had to defend her fiance (who nobody realized was actually her fiance). Yet, as the episode went along, Jamie actually encouraged her to talk smack about him to fit in — he didn’t mind, and it was important for her to blend in with a number of the other cops out there in the field. She did just that, and when Jamie determined that there was something array about the store the incident happened, eventually the ice started to thaw and everything ended up being okay.

A case of … reverse discrimination? – Tonight, a cop named Sully decided to go after the NYPD for what he felt was reverse racism and discrimination over his age. Based on what we saw tonight, it has a little more to do with his aggression and his police work than just about anything else. We’re not sure that Sully will ever understand that, but still.

Danny and Baez head to Hudson University – Just like in SVU, nothing good happens at Hudson University. The two were tasked tonight with trying to determine what happened to a pledge, and as it turns out, he ended up dying in the midst of what started as a shoving match after the victim admitting to being gay and tried to kiss another student. The guilty party here turned out to not only be full of anger, but also homophobia in the closing minutes.

CarterMatt Verdict

Jack’s absence was clearly felt on tonight’s Blue Bloods episode, but it was still a fairly entertaining affair overall as we had an opportunity to see a number of intense events play out alongside good stories — especially for Jamie, Eddie, and Henry.
