Supernatural season 14 episode 3 spoilers: Is Dean actually Dean?
Well, for the time being, you should know this: It just so turns out that Dean actually is Dean. This is not a case of Michael hanging around pretending to be one of the brothers Winchester.
Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, executive producer Andrew Dabb confirmed this with the following message:
[Michael] has departed. The question of “why?” is one that will be explored. But he has definitely gotten out, and Dean is not secretly possessed.
What does this mean for the future of these characters? For us, we’re mostly intrigued to see what happens when we get a chance to see if there are some major after-effects to what happened with Michael. We have a hard time thinking that this is a problem that is going to go away for Dean completely … this is the sort of thing that tends to hang around and cause a lot of problems for someone. We just have to wait and see precisely what some of these specific problems could be when it comes to Dean, or if they could be things that actually challenge him.
Dabb also had the following to say about where Dean will be at emotionally after all of this:
You’re looking at a Dean that’s still a little shell-shocked from everything that’s happened. He’s walking not just back into himself after the last episode, but back into Sam, Cas and Jack, who’ve all kind of shifted over the past few weeks, [and] back into a bunker that’s suddenly full of a lot of hunters he doesn’t know or has very passing relationships with. You’re dealing with a Dean that’s maybe a little bit besieged on all sides, and as Dean so often does, [he] throws himself into a case.
