The Flash season 5 episode 3 photo: Is this Sherloque Wells?
The photo above is of the latest iteration of Tom Cavanagh’s character, who may be named “Sherloque Wells” based on some of the stories that are out there. This is a character presumably brought over in order to help the investigation into Cicada … unless of course all of this has been misdirection.
Superficially, what we know about this version of the character is that he’s sporting some rather-sweet facial hair, and he looks a little more pensive and a little less comical than the last new version of Wells we had (at least a semi-permanent one) in H.R., who died back in season 3.

While we’re always excited for a new Wells and we find that Tom Cavanagh is rather brilliant for constantly coming up with new versions of this character, there is still one question we have to wonder here: How much room will there be for him? The Flash does feel rather crowded this season given that you have already Nora West-Allen and Ralph Dibny added to the crew full-time. Meanwhile, Cecile isn’t going anywhere, either. This is probably one of the most-crowded fields of good guys that we’ve had, and we say that knowing full well that Wally West is gone and doesn’t seem to be coming back on the series anytime soon. He’s on his own journey now, independent of being a hero.
Hopefully, this version of Wells just proves to be a good time and he gives us some new perspectives on the rest of the team. At this point, we’re not really asking for anything more than that — we just want some quality, fun entertainment that gives the actor great material!
