This Is Us season 3 episode 5 preview: The journey of ‘Toby’
This episode is entitled “Toby,” and that probably speaks a lot to what’s going to be coming up. This could be the story of how Toby starts to fall into emotional despair. We know that his struggles with depression is going to be a key part of this episode, and this hour could mark the beginning of his story.

Beyond the Toby part of the story, we imagine that the main narrative push of this hour is going to be getting to see if Randall really is set to kick off a political career. We think that this is something that suits his sentiment and his desire to help other people. Yet, getting into politics, even on a small-scale level, is not the easiest thing in the world. It’s something that takes time and dedication, and we know that Randall also has some other problems on his plate that he has to think about. Just remember that Beth was just dismissed from her job, and that is something else that this character is going to be forced to think about over time here.
By the end of this episode, we imagine that some thing will start to become clearer when it comes to Toby’s condition, plus also the future of things with Kate and their quest to have a family. That, of course, doesn’t mean that we are at the end when it comes to this family’s struggles.
