Chicago Fire season 7 episode 4 exclusive sneak peek: What caused the explosion?

Chicago Fire season 7

Chicago Fire season 7 episode 4 is airing on NBC Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and this could be one of Firehouse 51’s most dangerous stories this season. Why is that? As the CarterMatt exclusive sneak peek below highlights, Casey and company have a rather explosive situation on their hands.

When the team first arrives to a scene of an incident the first order of business is trying to determine what the precise cause of this mess could have been, whether it be a device malfunction, a gas fire, or something completely different. Casey assesses before long that this was not a standard fire, as none of the appliances are in bad shape. Yet, there is also a curious discovery made when it comes to an object first believed to be tied to a fire extinguisher — it’s actually a part of a grenade! All of a sudden, things become quite a bit more serious and the police are called in.

Whoever caused this explosion clearly did so in order to intentionally do a great deal of damage. With that, be prepared to see much of the team on high alert through out this episode in order to determine whether or not there are more explosives either in this resident or somewhere else. Judging from what the official synopsis for this episode indicated, there could be even more situations elsewhere in the city. It’s the sort of thing that the team has to be aware of, and it could be a distraction from some of the other problems at the firehouse — take, for example, the ever-increasing tension between Boden and Gorsch amplified by him opting to promote Herrmann to Lieutenant. It’s exciting to see him get that gig, even though it doesn’t feel he will have that much of an opportunity to celebrate.
