‘Shiptober 2018: Riverdale (Betty / Jughead) vs. The Flash (Barry / Iris)
It’s a chance to celebrate some of the greatest ‘ships that the TV has to offer, and we’ve got a fun tournament this year to go along with it. Over the course of this month, we’ll be running some ‘Shiptober polls while also discussing what makes some of these couples so great and also sharing some teases / expectations for upcoming episodes! This is a chance to celebrate and discuss great ‘ships while gauging their popularity among readers at the same time. Only one ‘ship will be crowned the victor at the very end!
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Only one ‘ship from round 2 will move onward, and we are keeping these polls open until Sunday, October 21 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The following day, the third round will officially begin. (All of the information needed can be found in the bracket image above.)
In this ‘Shiptober battle, round 2 continues with two CW ‘ships that withstood some competition in the first round: Betty & Jughead from Riverdale and then also Barry & Iris from The Flash.
Betty & Jughead, Riverdale (#3 seed) – Bughead is certainly the underdog within this particular showdown, and in many ways they are one of the biggest underdogs of the entire second round as a whole. They had one of the lower vote-outputs of round 1 of the advancing ‘ships, and they will certainly need to up their game here against a formidable opponent. There is still a good bit to celebrate overall if you are a Bughead fan, mostly because the two are together coming out of the premiere. While there are certainly going to be some problems for the two moving forward — that’s certainly the nature of this show — at least the two characters are in a slightly better spot than Archie is at the moment.
Barry & Iris, The Flash (#2 seed) – The first round between them and Steve & Catherine of Hawaii Five-0 was one of the most intense of the tournament so far. While Barry & Iris won, it took a good bit of effort and a high number of votes. Can they muster another big performance here? While precedent gives them the advantage, over time tournament results dictate that precedent doesn’t always mean a lot. As for where WestAllen stands on the show right now, things are smooth sailing — at least as much as they can be given that their daughter Nora has suddenly appeared in their timeline. They have to work on expanding their relationship to also be parents to her, and that’s going to be tough given that neither one of them has any experience in the field.
