Starz signs Power EP Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson to new overall deal

Starz -

Even though Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson may no longer be a part of Power as an actor, he has cemented his relationship with the network in a big new way.

Today, the network confirmed that they have signed a new multi-year deal with the actor, producer, and soon-to-be director (he will helm an hour of Power next season) via his G-Unit Film & Television banner. He will develop exclusive new scripted and unscripted projects through the network. He and Courtney A. Kemp are the architects for Power and we certainly imagine, as time goes by, there is potential for even more hits to come from him.

In a statement, 50 had the following to say about inking the deal:

“When I sat down with [Starz CEO / President] Chris [Albrecht] and walked him through my plans for G-Unit Film & Television going forward, he let me know I was essentially requesting the biggest deal in premium cable history.  I am excited to announce that we’ve made that partnership between myself, G-Unit Film & Television and Starz/Lionsgate and we will continue our proven track record of breaking records and delivering unique content for audiences around the world…..Get The Strap.”

Meanwhile, Albrecht also had the following to say about the arrangement:

“Both on screen and off, Curtis has proven that he can deliver content that our viewers want to watch. He is the real deal, and we have given him a real deal, with what I believe to be among the most significant deals to date for an Executive Producer in premium television. We’re pleased to expand our relationship and consider this the beginning of many new and exciting ventures to come.”

Given that Power has routinely been Starz’s biggest hit and it attracts a very formidable demographic to the network, it only makes sense for them to continue to stay in business with 50 for some time moving into the future. We’ll have to wait and see precisely what else he has up his sleeve.

Power will return with another batch of episodes next summer. See more of our expectations in the video below, and subscribe to make sure you don’t miss any other updates.
