The Last Kingdom season 3: Writer Bernard Cornwell to appear
In a new post on Twitter, the series confirmed that author Bernard Cornwell, whose words have inspired much of the series as a whole, will be making an actual appearance in the flesh over the upcoming episodes. This is far from the first time in which we’ve seen a writer cameo on a show based on their work, but to us it is absolutely cool every single time. It’s a wonderful homage to the source material and, beyond just that, a nice Easter egg to many fans.
The Twitter post gives you a sense as to Cornwell’s look for the series. More than likely, he is not going to be playing a huge character, but this is still something really fun for fans to keep your eyes peeled for. Given that there was no specific episode number mentioned, that makes it more of a treasure hunt than it would be otherwise. This is nonetheless a thrill, and it’s very much easy to be happy for the entire cast and crew as they got to take part in this. Form this vantage point, the hardest part of the gig may have just been keeping it a secret from most fans for so long. Filming has been done for a while now!
Alas, there is still no confirmed premiere date for The Last Kingdom season 3 just yet, but all signs point towards there being some sort of announcement coming a little bit later this month. Given that the series is making a convention appearance and potentially highlighting more of what lies ahead, that seems to be the perfect time to start handing down a little bit more news on specifics. There are still many mysteries floating around out there about the specific stories and the characters we are going to meet — beyond, of course, some of our most familiar faces.
