The Big Bang Theory season 12 episode 4 preview: ‘The Tam Turbulence’

Big Bang Theory season 12 episode 4

As you may have heard already, The Big Bang Theory season 12 episode 4 next week is going to feature the character Tam.

Why does that matter? The simple answer is that this is a rare opportunity to include a character from Young Sheldon onto this show. While technically we met Jerry O’Connell as George on the prequel series before we saw him in the flesh here, there were at least multiple reminders that the character existed. He had more of a presence than Tam ever did. This is as close to a crossover between these shows as we are going to get, and it’s fun for the writers to likely explore this concept. With this being the final season, they really have to throw just about everything at the wall here that they have on their mind. (This episode was likely written before Jim Parsons reportedly decided to leave the show, which prompted the final-season announcement.)

Below, the Big Bang Theory season 12 episode 4 synopsis offers up some more information regarding the CBS series:

“The Tam Turbulence” – When Sheldon won’t tell anyone why he’s never mentioned Tam (Robert Wu), his childhood best friend, Leonard takes matters into his own hands. Also, Bernadette and Penny take out Raj’s fiancée, Anu (Rati Gupta), for dinner to get the skinny on her, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Thursday, Oct. 11 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Jerry O’Connell returns as Sheldon’s brother, George.

The Tam story is the one that offers up the most interesting possibilities just because it’s such a different creative opportunity. Seeing Raj engaged also offers up some fun of its own, but it’s also still fairly hard to imagine that these two characters are going to go the distance when you consider many of the circumstances behind how they were paired up in the first place.

Still, it does feel as though Raj’s romantic future is an idea that will be explored a little more thoroughly before the end of the series arrives.
