Bull season 3 episode 2 theory: What’s with Cable’s voice?

Annabelle Attanasio

What was going on with Cable’s voice on Monday night’s Bull season 3 episode 2? That’s a question that we asked ourselves.

Before doing anything else, let’s offer up some context if you didn’t see the episode tonight or need a reminder. After we saw a brief time jump in the midst of the case of Heather, Dr. Bull walked about into an office, only to hear a voice greet him: It was Cable’s, and immediately after that he started to get emotional.

So what happened here? One reading of this scene is that Bull was just imagining hearing her voice, something that he got used to hearing when he walked back into his office over time. We admittedly also wondered if Cable had just set up some sort of personal assistant that set this up to say Bull’s name when we ended … but then we realized how crazy this sounds.

There are some other even crazier theories out there that you could declare, including that this character is somehow still alive. Yet, to call this implausible would feel very much like a gross understatement. Cable’s gone, Annabelle Attanasio has left the show, and we don’t really think there is all that much you can read into this.

Ultimately, we think that tonight’s episode was just another example of getting to see Bull manifest something, whether it be good and bad. We’ve seen this show give us some dreams and/or hallucinations from him before, such as at the end of last season where he decided to barge in and interrupt Isabella’s wedding. This is just really par for the course when you consider things in that sense.
