NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 2 video: How is Pride recovering?
The first thing to note about the sneak peek below is that there is a fairly sizable time jump between the end of this past episode and where we are right now. Per Laurel Pride, it’s been about eight weeks and it’s clear that Dwayne is still on the mend. Yet, you get a sense here how much everyone in the community cares about him, as there are people waving at him and saying hello almost at every single stop he makes while out on a walk with her. It does make sense that Pride is the sort of guy who has friends almost everywhere he turns — he’s a staple of the local community and when something like this happens to this sort of guy, it’s pretty inevitable that it is going to generate a great deal of attention.

Yet, at the end of this sneak peek it’s still fairly clear that he is not out of the woods just yet. He has to take care of himself to keep there from being any complications, and that is a big part of why Laurel is there. She’s not letting him spend too much time outside, knowing that if that happens, there’s a chance that he could fail to get better in a reasonable amount of time.
Ultimately, we remain hopeful that Pride will eventually be close to 100% again, but we like that the series is not just trying to rush this. As you can read in the preview over here, it also seems like the NCIS has already brought on someone who help fill the void in his absence.
