The Royals season 5 not happening, despite renewal campaign
Following the show’s recent cancellation over at E!, studio Lionsgate TV did just about everything that it possibly could in order to get the series a new home. Unfortunately, that’s just not something that came to pass. In a post on Twitter (see below), the studio made it clear that despite all efforts, they were not able to find a new home somewhere else. There was talk about moving the show to a network like Pop that had a connection to the studio, but that’s apparently not happening.
The thing to remember here when it comes to saving a show like The Royals is rather simple: While it’s easy to want to see an 11-hour renewal, that just doesn’t happen all that often. While we occasionally get revival success stories a la Lucifer or Designated Survivor, these are few and far between. The vast majority of canceled shows don’t end up landing somewhere else. It’s just a reality of the TV world and it’s something that we really have to be prepared for at this particular point in time anytime a show ends.
The best thing that we can really hope for is that some various cast members end up landing some exciting opportunities and roles in the future. If there is a chance to at least keep the spirit of the series alive, that’s something that we’re sure is worth fighting for with some of the actors elsewhere. Also, we do hope that someone else takes advantage of an opportunity to tell another juicy story about a royal family, fictional or otherwise, in the future. It’s just a shame that this is when this particular one has to come to an end.
