9-1-1 season 2 video: Jennifer Love Hewitt introduces Maddie Buckley
In the video below, you can see Jennifer Love Hewitt do her part in order to describe her character and also where she comes from — she’s Buck’s sister, and is going to be entering the show with a rather tumultuous history. She is basically running from her old life and a man who threatened to kill her. It’s not an easy position to be in — she’s completely immersed in pain, but we don’t get the sense that she wants to let this define her.
With that in mind, over the course of this coming season we’re also going to be getting a chance to see Maddie start her life anew as a 9-1-1 call center operator. This is a chance for her to work through her problems, mostly by helping others deal with some of their own. This is an opportunity to make new friends, feel accomplished, and then try to turn the page to whatever the next phase of her life is.
Are we worried that some of her old life is going to come back to haunt Maddie? Sure, but there’s one other thing to think about here: If it ever does happen, at least we know that she will have a number of people on her side. That is, after all, what happens when you embark on a career path that surrounds you with other first responders, including plenty of people in law enforcement. Insofar as new careers go, it feels pretty apparent (at least from this vantage point) that we’re seeing Maddie in one of the best places she can possibly be.
