Where we left off
Vance is in trouble… really bad trouble.
The man that had imprisoned Sloane and tortured her for months (Nigel Hakim) is not dead like she thought and after coming face to face with him she wasn’t able to stop him from abducting Vance and taking off with him on a private plane. Jack feels responsible and knows what this man is capable of (we have seen Sloane’s scars on her back). We are all worried about Vance, but this is NCIS so we have faith that the team will be able to figure out a way to get Vance back. The bigger question for us is will Hakim end up dying, arrested or will he get away leaving Sloane feeling uneasy?
Where we are going
We know that for the first little while that Gibbs will be acting director while Vance is gone, a position that will force Gibbs out of his comfort zone – this should make for some great TV moments! While we enjoy Gibbs when he’s doing what he does best, seeing Gibbs in situations out of his control or that he doesn’t have a good handle on is when we enjoy him the most. Fish out of water Gibbs is our favorite Gibbs.
Speaking of changes for Gibbs, we also know that his relationship with Sloane is going to grow next season, which makes complete sense. These two have very similar backgrounds, have formed a good relationship outside of work (anyone else remember that poker game where Sloane grabbed his shoulders and Gibbs was smiling?) and we have seen some possible romantic chemistry where there felt like a kiss could happen when she was over at his place for dinner. Now we know what you’re going to say – what about rule number 12? Well, producer Steven D. Binder already said that there may be more rules coming (you can read about that here), but we also know that growing this Gibbs/Sloane relationship (not necessarily romantic, but could be) is something that is in the works (more on that here). Gibbs’ rules are a fun part of the show, but watching him come up against his own rules and having to make that choice is going to make for some great material for Mark Harmon. Also we are going to see Gibbs’ ex-wives come back!
Speaking of possible workplace romances, they have already sort of set up something brewing between Bishop and Torres after they went under cover together and it looks like things will still be moving in that direction this season, so if you are a fan of this coupling there will be something here for you.
Last but not least we can’t end this article without talking about Abby. Pauley Perrette is gone from the show and Diona Reasonover is now running the lab as Kasie Hines. We met her in a few episodes during season 15 and so far we are enjoying her character quite a bit. She brings a positive energy to the show like Abby did, but in a different way (which we are thankful for since we don’t want an Abby replica). We know that she’s quirky, she’s been working with Ducky and that she loves 50’s music (a woman after our own heart). Outside of that we don’t really know much about her past so expect to dive into that this season.
