American Horror Story: Apocalypse episode 2: What’s next, and why the secrecy?

Moving into American Horror Story: Apocalypse episode 2, it’s clear that FX is not changing things up when it comes to its promotional strategy.

In general, we’re willing to say that this may continue to be one of the strangest (and quietest) shows out there when it comes to teasing what’s coming up ahead of time. FX has not released screeners for the series so far and, beyond that, they also are not giving too much away when it comes to synopses or teasers. They want to keep the crossover elements of the show secret along with the other freaky stuff along the way. While this season does have its own fair share of familiar faces, we do think that there’s going to be a balance between that and some of the newcomers. There has to be given that otherwise, this show isn’t going to work anywhere near as well.

In general, this balance also has to exist within the story, given that there is going to be a LOT going on with so many characters and stories. There does need to be some restraint in here so that the story does not get too confusing. It does need to be freaky and dramatic, but at the same time, it also needs to be focused.

Here’s the crazy thing: We hoped that there’d at least be a preview for next week’s episode after the finale, but instead, here’s what we got: No hints whatsoever as to what lies ahead. That means that FX wants the story of Ms. Venable and many of your favorite crossover characters to remain a mystery for some time to come.
