Designated Survivor season 3 revived (officially!) at Netflix
In a statement tonight, the streaming provider confirmed that a ten-episode season 3 is on its way, which goes along with some of the recent talk around shooting for the new season happening in the near future. Kiefer Sutherland will return as Tom Kirkman, and yet again, there is going to be a new showrunner. Former SVU boss Neal Baer is going to take on the position following Keith Eisner, who was in charge of the entirety of the second season. There have been a lot of showrunner swaps with this show and yet, there is still hope for this season to be one of best ones yet.

Here’s some of what Kiefer had to say about the revival in the statement below:
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play President Kirkman for Season 3 of Designated Survivor on Netflix… I believe this format will allow us to continue to delve deeply into storylines and issues concerning the American electorate that were not previously possible.”
Sutherland is right in that with Designated Survivor going to a new home in Netflix, there are going to be some changes — after all, the show has a chance to get a little bit edgier and, to go along with it, a little bit more timely. That’s something that we do think benefits the show greatly given that there were certain limitations content-wise that came with the show being on typical broadcast television.
Designated Survivor is the second major network show this year that has been revived officially by Netflix, as Lucifer found itself saved after its initial cancellation over at Fox.
