NCIS: New Orleans season 5 promo: Pride’s crisis; Mark Harmon’s cameo
First and foremost, it’s fairly clear that Pride’s life-or-death crisis is going to be at the center of the premiere … and it’s hard to imagine how it could play out otherwise. The character was shot at the end of the season 4 finale and most of the premiere seems to be about trying to figure out how he can survive. We do still think that there’s a way for him to get out of this alive but, more than likely, it’s not going to be easy — and we do think that this situation is the sort that is going to stick with Pride. It’s not going to be an easy thing for any of these characters to forget about in the near future.
This promo also does give you a small sense of the Mark Harmon cameo that is going to be in the episode. We never anticipated that he was going to be at the center of the episode, mostly because we didn’t hear anything when it comes to him flying down to New Orleans. This is mostly meant to be Gibbs checking in on Pride to see how he is doing. This is a cameo that makes a good bit of sense, given that Gibbs and Pride have a good relationship and have since before this series formally came on the air. Do we want to see him appear in the flesh on the show soon? Sure, but there is no formal evidence that this is coming anytime soon.
Basically, we’re looking at this premiere (provided that Pride survives) as a way to turn the page on what happened in the finale, and also to better look ahead to the future.
