The Good Doctor season 2: Five things to expect from Freddie Highmore, cast
If you look below (including the new video — subscribe for more updates), you’re going to get a sense as to some of our early expectations are for the new batch of episodes, which are of course premiering on ABC come Monday, September 24 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
1. Returning faces – Let’s start things off here with promotions. Not only will Paige Spara be back as Shaun’s love interest Lea, but you will see more of Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park and Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick. All three of these performers are now series regulars.
2. Departures – The most notable one is Chuku Modu, who will be departing the series and the role of Jared. He will be featured in the premiere episode, but that could be it for the one-time major character.
3. Shaun’s fight for his career – He has made mistakes, suffice it to say, and as this season goes along, we’re going to have to see him continue to push for his livelihood. Be prepared for that to be a big part of his arc as there are still going to be some who doubt him or think that his autism renders him incapable of him being a great physician. We, of course, know that to not be the case.
4. Dr. Glassman’s battle with cancer – Even if there is a time jump at some point in this season, this is not the sort of thing that is going to go away. Aaron will be fighting for his life still in the second season, and as sad as that is going to be, we should have chances to watch his relationship with Shaun evolve.
5. Lisa Edelstein – This is the most notable addition to the series, and she was even featured in a recent trailer! This season marks a reunion for Edelstein with the creator of House in David Shore. Her character is a prominent oncologist, someone who could help Dr. Glassman even if they’ve had their fair share of past issues.
