Cable ratings: Fear the Walking Dead, Wynonna Earp, and Power season 5
It’s been a couple of weeks since we checked in on the numbers, but the truth is that they haven’t gotten any better. This past episode on Sunday drew a 0.6 rating and then also slightly more than 1.82 million live viewers, making it the lowest-rated installment in live+same-day we’ve seen to date. Maybe you can blame it on the show writing out Kim Dickens, or maybe it’s just the natural decline of a show that has lost viewership ever since the very beginning.
Either way, there will be a season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead … we just don’t know if there will be more beyond that if the numbers continue to fall this steadily.
Wynonna Earp – We were super-excited to see what the numbers were going to be for this past episode given that it was holiday-themed and we thought there’d be a lot of Earpers getting into the holiday spirit early.
Alas, this episode did post its lowest total-viewer count since the premiere with around 480,000 people watching live. That’s still not bad, especially since season 3 is right about even with season 2 in live viewership. It’s not that often you see something like that with any show.
Power – Finally, we turn to the Starz drama, which we had an immense amount of curiosity over based on their decision to kill off a major character on Sunday’s episode. The decision the writers made here may have been somewhat controversial, but with over 1.45 million people watching live, this was the most-watched episode of Power in more than a month. (The demo doesn’t really matter with premium-cable shows since it’s all subscription based.)
