NCIS: New Orleans season 5 spoilers: Grimm alum scores recurring role

While NCIS: New Orleans still has not officially cast its replacement for Shalita Grant (she now has a role on the Santa Clarita Diet which is one of our top 5 favorite shows), we do have some other news to report today.

Per a new report coming in via Deadline, former Grimm actor Reggie Lee has booked a recurring role on the CBS crime procedural. He is playing Assistant Special Agent in Charge Steven Thompson, a new adversary-of-sorts to Pride (Scott Bakula). He’s a good guy in the sense that the two want very similar things (the best team possible in New Orleans), but they have very different ideas as to how to make that happen. We’ve already seen that Pride doesn’t have the best relationship with people outside of his local branch and with that, we certainly anticipate a good bit of conflict coming in here.

We do appreciate the sort of battles that happen on this show between the New Orleans office and the larger NCIS, mostly because it’s a chance to show the differences in structure with Pride’s team as well as what makes him so special. Also, this marks some further evidence that despite what happened over the course of the season 4 finale, Pride is going to be just fine.

It’s nice to get another role officially cast, but we do understand the frustration from those of you out there who are wondering what’s going on when it comes to the new female character who is supposedly being added (we share in that frustration). Either the series is really taking its time trying to figure out how to reveal this bit of casting, or this is not someone who is turning up right away on the show. Maybe the writers are going to introduce her after the 100th episode so they can focus on the main cast up until that point.
