House of Cards season 6 premiere date revealed at Netflix

Netflix has officially decided that House of Cards season 6, otherwise known as the final season, will drop before the Midterm Elections.

Today, the streaming service confirmed that Friday, November 2 is going to be launch date for the eight-episode final season, which is going to focus on Claire Underwood serving now as the President of the United States. Robin Wright is the new lead of the show, and the new poster that CarterMatt has for you to check out below is meant to be a nod both to that and some early promo art for the show way back when.

Many of you who are reading this story are likely familiar with the circumstances that led to this season being structured in the way that it is. Last fall Kevin Spacey was fired after a series of allegations of sexual misconduct, and with that production was shut down as the entire series was rebuilt in order to focus on the Claire character. Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane were added to help round out the cast, and the show finished up what was always meant to be the final season. The streaming service clearly didn’t want Spacey to put the crew and cast out of work — they recognize that the show is more than just one performer, and they wanted to give it a proper conclusion.

House of Cards has to be considered one of Netflix’s most important flagship shows even in the midst of the controversy. It is one of the first completely-original series at the service that set the binge-watching craze and just about everything else that we have associated with the platform over time.

With this November 2 premiere date in mind, we have a feeling that there will be some sort of official trailer over the next few months. Let’s go ahead and say that this is something that you should be watching out for.
