Supernatural season 14: CW may not try another spin-off in future
Speaking (per TVLine) while at the TCA Summer Press Tour event on Monday, CW programming head Mark Pedowitz conceded that “it may be [stars] Jared [Padalecki] and Jensen [Ackles]. And there may not be a franchise beyond that.” He did say that they would always listen to ideas, but it does not seem entering season 14 that the network is actively looking for another spin-off idea for the show. (It has been reported already that some stars of the Wayward Sisters pilot could still find a way to appear in the upcoming season.)
We do think that The CW has to take a never-say-never approach when it comes to the future of Supernatural as a franchise, especially when they start to get to the end of the series and think about if they want to see the show continue forward in some form. We certainly do think that there are more storytelling possibilities for it out there and a rich-enough cast to try and make something happen.
Remember also that Supernatural season 14 is going to be a little bit different from some others in the past in that it is only doing 20 episodes for the first time in a long time — if you are interested as to why that is, take a look at the video below! You can also subscribe if you do want some other video discussions on YouTube in the future.
New episodes of Supernatural season 14 will start airing on The CW this October. Stay tuned for more along the way.
