Quick Hits: Daredevil season 3 coming in 2018; American Crime Story delayed; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia news
We have a few different stories to touch on in today’s edition of Quick Hits, but let’s kick things off with this: Daredevil season 3 is coming up soon!
Thanks to some sleuthing via ComicBook.com, it does appear as though the Charlie Cox series is going be back at some point before the end of this year. This is something that Netflix has been suggesting in earnings reports and if this happens, it will mean that all four iterations of their Marvel universe will be on the air in the same calendar year for the first time ever. (We’re not including The Defenders in there — there may never be a second season of that.)
If we had it our way, we’d like to see season 3 come to fruition come December — after all, that would mark a great opportunity to dive into Iron Fist fully before getting a chance to see Matt Murdock back in action.
As for some other news of the day…
Glenn Howerton returning to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – Through most of the lengthy hiatus, the long-running comedy has tried its best to mask whether or not Dennis would be back. Yet, they made it pretty darn clear today at the TCA Summer Press Tour that he will be. While he may not be in every episode, all signs point towards him being a part of a pretty significant chunk. Howerton has been rather busy with other projects, including AP Bio, which was recently renewed for a second season.
American Crime Story delayed – This was honestly something that should not shock anyone. There were hopes at one point that maybe this New Orleans, hospital-set series would come out next year, but we’re feeling rather doubtful right now. Speaking at TCA today (via Decider), FX Networks head John Landgraf offered an update on the state of that project and how much of it is up to Ryan Murphy’s own belief that the story is good enough to deliver:
“My understanding is that they’ve seen scripts … So much of it right now is Ryan’s — he kind of sets his own timetable. So I’m quite certain that American Horror Story and Pose are on an annual cycle … With Crime Story and FEUD, they’ve kind of on the cycle of when is the material that’s developed that’s good enough. I think there will be more cycles. I’m not in control of when they are.”
Earlier today, we reported that the once-planned Feud season 2 focusing on Charles and Diana does not appear to be happening now.
