Scream season 3 premiering (likely) around Halloween, says director
In a new post on Twitter, Brian Dannelly (who has directed multiple episodes of the series) made it clear, via a producer, that the third season (which stars Keke Palmer, Tyga, Tyler Posey, and others) is going to premiere “around Halloween” on MTV. This is something that we previously suggested at CarterMatt as the ideal time in which to bring the series back, for many different reasons that are probably obvious to some out there.
The big thing when it comes to Scream season 3 for us is just seeing the show get the best promotional platform that it possibly can, and airing the show around Halloween and turning it into some sort of event series could be the right way to go. It’s been so long since the show was on the air that maybe this version can attract viewers who either missed the show during its hiatus, or also just people who are intrigued by the concept and would like to see what it has to offer this time around.
Basically, we’re all for anything that gives the show a possibility of having another season down the line. Scream at this point probably works best as an anthology series, largely because it is very difficult to sustain a horror concept with the same characters many years at a time. Sooner or later, you have to assume that they are going to want to run away from all of the terrible things tormenting them! For many years, this was one of the biggest issues that we had with Pretty Little Liars — if we were one of the Liars we would’ve scattered to some other part of the world the moment that “A” started their reign of terror.
