Big Brother 20 episode 17 review: Did Brett’s speech cause chaos?

Brett

Going into Big Brother 20 episode 17, there was one word that we would have used in preparation: Insanity. That’s what we were hyped up for thanks to the live feeds, and there was very little reason to think that Brett wouldn’t deliver with an epic speech. That is something that we’ve already seen him do on multiple occasions moving forward.

So, of course, we spent the first part of the season sitting around and waiting for the good stuff while we saw the aftermath of the Veto Ceremony, including Tyler misting the heck out of Bayleigh after deciding to not use the Veto.

There were a couple of very-funny moments, though, as we awaited the speeches and the eviction vote, including Faysal completely losing it over Haleigh and Brett spending time in the hammock together and then also Scottie being positive that the plan was going to work this week. Sure, Jan.

Swaggy C meets Bayleigh’s parents – While most of these segments are a complete waste of time, we actually rather appreciated this one — at least it did something different and showed that Swaggy and Bayleigh may actually work outside the house. We genuinely think that he wants it to.

Speech Time – Rachel’s speech was fairly boring — which is precisely what we expected to see from her. She also thought she was safe. Then, Brett came came and gave us EVERYTHING, including telling everyone about Bayleigh’s power and then also the all-female alliance. Great TV.

While we thought briefly that JC may pull something crazy, that didn’t happen. Brett ended up staying, and Rachel was then blindsided. Unfortunately, Rachel didn’t blow up anyone’s game on her way out the door.

The eviction interview – This was great in its discomfort, as Rachel was blindsided in a way very few people are in this game. She did not see this coming at all — also, what was with Angela being so ruthless in her goodbye message? We don’t think that Rachel ever intentionally lied to her, but we do think that she misinterpreted things and caused so much more drama than she really needed to.

Head of Household – This was a memory challenge themed all around some gifs that the houseguests viewed earlier in the week. Many of these were actually pretty funny, which is not often something you get with this show.

The new HoH came down to a tiebreaker and it was Angela who won! She is the new HoH, which means that this is going to be a week where Bayleigh may be forced to use her power.
