Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 7 very much possible, cast hoping for it

Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 5

As you probably imagined, NBC wasn’t interested in picking up Brooklyn Nine-Nine to just air it for thirteen episodes.

Speaking to TVLine while at San Diego Comic-Con this week promoting the show, series star Andy Samberg expressed confidence that season 6 would not be the show’s last. It was a tumultuous journey going from Fox over to NBC, who actually seems like the proper home for the series overall given the fact that they know and actually understand the show better than anyone thanks to the studio connection there.

Of course, part of the challenge with filming the sixth season, at least at the moment, is that it’s going to be very difficult for anyone to get a real perspective in the midst of production as to how NBC is thinking regarding the renewal prospects for the show. The entire sixth season will be done filming, after all, by the time that it actually premieres in 2019, so they are going to have to plan ahead without knowing about whatever the future could be. Our feeling would be to just create something similar to the season 5 finale, which did offer up some closure for some storylines while also setting the stage for the future. You’re basically allowing yourself to have a great deal of flexibility, and we often think that this is the right course of action for many shows out there who are in this position.

In the end, though, the #1 thing that all fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine can do in order to keep the show alive is to just watch it live and support the show while it’s airing. It’s amazing that there are so many people who DVR and stream it, mostly because the size and scope of that audience is one of the biggest reasons why it was revived in the first place. Yet, it is certainly fair to wonder if having some of those viewers watch live could help keep the show from being in danger in the first place.
