NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 spotlight: The future for Hetty
The good news is that Linda Hunt’s scary car crash is not going to inhibit her ability in the slightest to appear on the next season of the show. Beyond that, though, there is a certain degree of mystery surrounding what her story will be. She was barely around for the first half of season 8 due to the whole Vietnam story, and we certainly hope that this is a trend that will change.
We suppose that what we want for Hetty, first and foremost, moving into the new season is a chance for a little more stability when it comes to the character. We want to see her more or less right away, as opposed to just making some assorted appearances throughout the first five or six episodes. More so than that, we also want to see her have some big moments with some of our other series regulars. Basically, we want her to be a major, active part of this season at the NCIS: LA field office.
Not only that, but we want there to be some sort of serious aftermath to the battle between her and Mosley in the second half of last season. The status of Nia Long moving into season 10 is still unclear, but we do want to see what Hetty chooses to do in the aftermath of what Mosley did for the sake of saving her son — and the danger that she put some other members of her team in.
Beyond all of the conflict, the last thing we really want to see for Hetty moving into season 10 is something more personal. She’s such a mysterious character in ways that it would be nice to get an episode or two that focuses on her life outside of her time at the office, or how she is recovering mentally from what happened in Vietnam. It’s possible that she is over it by the time of the season 10 premiere, but it feels like there was so much more that could’ve been done with that storyline.
