Emmys 2018: Live stream the nomination announcement
First and foremost, let’s make it clear precisely when the nominations are going to be announced — think on Thursday, July 12 starting at 8:30 Pacific time (11:30 a.m. Eastern). There was a time in which these nominees were announced at a horrendous hour of the morning, but over the years the Academy has gotten significantly kinder with their choice of start time. Also, the news media is different — it used to be that the announcements had to be made early so that they could take advantage of morning shows.
You can check out the nominations as they are being announced live over at the link here, and we certainly believe that you’re going to want to check that out! New Amsterdam star Ryan Eggold is announcing the nominees this year alongside Samira Wiley of Orange is the New Black and The Handmaid’s Tale. The latter show figures to be the big-ticket item for the Emmys this year. There is still the potential for there to be a number of surprises and snubs, mostly because the Emmys has a limited number of categories and we’re also in the midst of one of the most-competitive eras of TV that we’ve had a chance to see.
So what is our coverage going to look like in the morning? There are a few different things to keep in mind. For starters, there’s going to be a full list of nominees; on the other side of that, we are going to have lists of our biggest snubs and surprises. You’re going to be able to check out all of it just by heading over to the link here.
